'Bones' Films New 'Crime Scene' in Calabasas

The hit TV series 'Bones' films an episode near King Gillette Ranch on Monday.

Cast and crew of the hit TV series Bones, starring David Boreanaz and Emily Deschenel, filmed an episode in and around King Gillette Ranch all day Monday.

The production was in town to take advantage of three or four rural locations, according to Jennifer Prince, key assistant location manager.

"This is a great location, like a blank canvas for anywhere, USA," she said.

Prince said the locales doubled as a cabin "surveillance" set-up, a canyon "crime scene," and rural street scenes, though she could not "divulge" the actual plot line.

The entire cast was on-location, including Boreanaz and Deschenel.

Since last July, the Calabasas Film Office has issued 18 permit for 37 days of filming, according to Deborah Steller, media operations director.

"Filming appears to be on the rise this year as the film industry tries to remain in California with its unparalleled talent pool, wonderful weather and varied topography," she said.

Production in the region included the television shows CSI (which shot for four days at the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center), Enlisted and the Kardashians, as well as a small feature called Shock Value, which filmed for 12 days in a residential neighborhood.

Prince says she particularly enjoys shooting in Calabasas. "The city is so good to us, and lots of productions shoot here,'" she said. "I hope to be able to come back again soon."
